Toyota Highlander vs. Toyota Grand Highlander
Performance
The Toyota Highlander and Toyota Grand Highlander both offer a strong, smooth, and commanding performance that makes every outing easy and enjoyable. The two vehicles do have different hybrid engines though. Both the Toyota Highlander and Grand Highlander lineups use a standard 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 265-horsepower and 310 pounds-feet of torque, providing you with an engaging and energetic driving experience. The new Toyota Grand Highlander has a larger size, though, which will mean a slight dip in fuel economy.
For the available hybrid engines, the Highlander Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with two electric motors to produce 243-horsepower and 175 pounds-feet of torque. The Grand Highlander Hybrid offers two hybrid powertrains, with your choice of an enhanced 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 245-horsepower. The Grand Highlander Hybrid Max models use a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a single electric motor to produce 362-horsepower. Whatever model you choose, you'll be treated to a bold performance that puts you in full control behind the wheel.
Technology Features
The new Toyota Highlander and Grand Highlander models both have a cutting-edge infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, allowing you to seamlessly connect and control your smartphone and all its features either on a touchscreen display or with a steering-wheel-mounted voice command button. The Toyota Highlander offers the infotainment system on a standard 8-inch touchscreen, with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen available on the Limited and Platinum trim levels. Every new Toyota Grand Highlander model comes with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen display, which is fitting for its larger size.
The new Toyota Highlander has five USB ports offered across two rows of seating, while the Grand Highlander models have seven USB ports, and only the Grand Highlander has third-row ports.
A wireless charging pad is available in the Toyota Highlander lineup, but comes standard on the Grand Highlander models, helping you conveniently keep your devices at 100% wherever you go around Glens Falls.
Space
The Grand Highlander is larger than the Highlander is, although both models offer seating for either eight or seven passengers. The difference is how much space is offered in each vehicle. The Highlander has 36.1-inches of headroom and 28-inches of third row legroom, compared to 37.2-inches of headroom and 33.5-inches of legroom in the third row.
Behind the third row of seats in the Highlander, there's 16 cubic feet of cargo space. IN the Grand Highlander, there's 20.6 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats down, the Highlander has 84.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity, compared to 97.5 cubic feet in the Grand Highlander, accommodating all your storage needs on trips around Claremont.
